Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan was born on 20 May 1971 in Gyumri,
He graduated from the Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin with Honors in 1993.
In 1998 Father Bagrat was sent to England, where he continued his higher education at the Holy Resurrection Theological College and the University of Leeds.
In 2000 he was assigned by the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II, to serve as Dean of the Vaskenian Theological Academy in Lake Sevan.
On 31 May 2003, the annual Diocesan Assembly of the Armenian Church Diocese of Canada elected Very Reverend Father Bagrat Galstanyan to serve as the third Primate of the diocese.
On 22 June 2003, the Feast of Holy Etchmiadzin, he was consecrated as a Bishop by His Holiness Karekin II, in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin.
In 2012 he graduated from Concordia University in Montreal as a Doctor of Theology, specializing in the sphere of bioethics.
In 2013 Bishop Bagrat Galstanian was appointed Director of the Office of Conceptual Church Issues by the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II
In 2015 Bishop Bagrat Galstanian was appointed primate of Tavush Diocese by the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II
Bishop Bagrat Galstanian has published numerous articles on theology, social, cultural spheres concerning Armenia, and the Armenian Church. He lends his participation to ecumenical activities and in 2006 represented the Armenian Church as an official delegate to the 9th World Assembly of the World Council of Churches.
